STELCO Launches HR Insight Forum to Strengthen Human Resource Development Across Government-Owned Companies

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has launched HR Insight, a dedicated forum aimed at strengthening human resource development across government-owned companies through knowledge-sharing, collaboration and the exchange of best practices.

The inaugural forum brought together 35 participants representing 13 government-owned companies, providing a platform for HR professionals and representatives from participating organisations to share experiences, discuss common challenges and explore approaches to developing and supporting their employees.

The forum was officially inaugurated by Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) Chairman Mohammed Nizar and STELCO Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar.

HR Insight has been established with the objective of creating a platform where government-owned companies can learn from one another and benefit from the experiences and practices developed within different organizations. Through greater collaboration, the forum seeks to encourage the sharing of practical knowledge and approaches that can contribute to more effective human resource management.

Speaking at the inauguration, PCB Chairman Mohammed Nizar highlighted the importance of sharing organisational experiences and best practices across government-owned companies.

He noted that practices and lessons developed by one company could provide valuable insights for others, enabling organisations to learn from each other and potentially accelerate decision-making.

Nizar said this type of collaboration and knowledge-sharing is a key outcome he hopes to see through the forum.

STELCO’s Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar highlighted the importance of human capital to organizational performance and long-term value creation.

He noted that while financial assets are among the resources visible on a company’s balance sheet, the employees who contribute to the organisation every day represent one of its most valuable assets.

According to Dr. Azwar, organisations are able to achieve stronger results and increase their value when their human resources are effectively utilised and employees are equipped with the skills and capabilities required to perform at their full potential.

From an HR perspective, Dr. Azwar highlighted two areas he believes require particular attention: understanding employees and continuously developing their capabilities.

He emphasised the importance of looking beyond employees’ job titles and responsibilities to understand their needs and perspectives. He noted that this understanding is particularly important when organisations seek to recruit and retain employees, as recognising and responding to employee needs can contribute to stronger workforce engagement and retention.

The Managing Director also stressed that employee development should be viewed with a long-term perspective.

Rather than developing employees solely to meet current organisational requirements or existing skills gaps, he said companies should provide employees with opportunities to continuously develop their capabilities and prepare for future needs.

The HR Insight forum provides an opportunity for participating organisations to explore these and other human resource priorities by sharing their experiences and learning from approaches implemented by other government-owned companies.

Through the exchange of knowledge and practical experiences, the forum aims to support the continuous improvement of HR practices while encouraging greater collaboration among government-owned organisations.
