This service is for building construction purposes, where wiring cannot be carried out
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
- Copy of land registration
- If the service is requested by the heir of the landlord, letter of consent and National Identity Card or Passport and its copy of the landlord
- If the service is requested by a tenant of the land under his liability, a court registered agreement between the tenant and landlord
- If the land has been divided among heirs but not registered separately, the final report of the court proceedings and the approved blueprint of the house
- If there is more than one heir, letter of consent and National identity card and its copy of all the heirs to the land (note: must be a unanimous decision)
- If the service is applied for on behalf of a minor, a guarantee letter from their legal guardian
- If the land owner is deceased, applicant should submit the consent letters from other heirs along with their identity card or passport copy
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
A survey will be conducted and if any issues are found, the applicant will be given a time frame to bring about changes before the next survey. If the process is not complete within a month’s time then the form will be cancelled.
Two quotations will be provided after the survey, one for the material costs and one for the service charges. If the applicant is unable to settle the payments within the time frame, the deadline can be further extended upon request. Failure to meet the extended deadline will result in the form being cancelled.
The connection will be provided after the payment has been settled. If any further problems are discovered by the service team, the customer should resolve the problems and inform STELCO so that the work can be resumed.
Temporary connection can be applied for under express services if there is a sub-distribution box within the premises and no excavation is required.
If the load exceeds 63 Amps, the connection will be provided via panel board
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

- Copy of land registration
- Copy of panel drawings and load calculations approved by the Maldives Energy Authority
- If the service is requested by the heir of the landlord, letter of consent and National Identity Card or Passport and its copy of the landlord

PRE-REQUISITE:
Installation testing must be completed
Switch board has to be installed and meter should be tested
If the cable is being provided by the applicant, it must be tested
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
Cable will be laid from the sub-station closest to the property. If a road block is required for cable burying, STELCO will acquire permission from the Housing Ministry/ City Council which takes 3 days on average.
A survey team will be sent to the site and an estimate service charge will be provided with a payment deadline. If the applicant is unable to settle the payment within the time frame, the deadline can be further extended upon request. Failure to meet the extended deadline will result in the form being cancelled.
The service will be provided after the payment has been settled. If any further problems are discovered by the service team, the customer should resolve the problems and inform STELCO so that the work can be resumed.
For new electrical connections required for limited periods of time for an event, function or for an emergency purpose .
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
- Letter of consent
- If the board is to be installed at any place other than their own residence, a letter of approval on relevant authority or ministry
PRE-REQUISITE:
If the service is applied for on behalf of a registered company, the application form should be stamped.
If there is an existing electric connection under the same ownership, the service will be provided on a daily rental basis. In the absence of an existing connection, the applicant must deposit a payment.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
The board will be connected by our service team for the required period.
The duration of the connection is as per the customer’s request. If the applicant requires an extension, a letter must be submitted. A temporary connection will be provided for a maximum period of two months.
NOTE:
If there is an existing service , the meter no. and account no. should be included in the application form.
Charges for any damages discovered during the disconnection of the temporary board will be deducted from the deposit amount. If the charges for damages exceed the total deposit amount, it will be billed to their existing meter account.
Cables that exceed the length of 50m for single phase and 25m for three phase will be charged on a daily rent basis.
For testing of new meters
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
PRE-REQUISITE:
Payment should be made upon receiving invoice from STELCO
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
Meter testing will be carried out after the applicant completes payment.
Details of meters authorized by the Maldives Energy Authority can be obtained from the service counter; only authorized meters are eligible for testing.
The duration of testing depends on the number of meters that are to be tested. If it is limited to one meter, testing will be complete within 3 working days.
Tested meters will be returned to the applicant on the date of completion as per slip provided.
This service can be applied for if the customer notices an issue with the meter in use.

PRE-REQUISITE:
Payment should be made upon receiving invoice from STELCO
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
If there is an issue with the existing meter, an emergency meter will be installed after the customer signs the agreement.
The customer will have to get their own (tested) meter or can make the emergency meter permanent within a month’s duration. If the customer fails to take any action, the emergency meter will be made permanent by default.
This service cannot be carried under express and there is no service charge for this service.
This service can be applied for if the customer notices an issue with the meter in use.

A survey will be conducted analyze the meter which needs to be replaced and if any issues are found, the applicant will be given a time frame to bring about changes before the next survey. If the process is not complete within a month’s time then the form will be cancelled.
An estimate with a payment deadline will be provided after the survey, if the applicant is unable to settle the payment within the time frame, the deadline can be further extended upon request. Failure to meet the extended deadline will result in the form being cancelled.
Meter changing will be carried out after the payment has been settled. If any further problems are discovered by the service team, the customer should resolve the problems and inform STELCO so that the work can be resumed.
Note: If the customer wants to replace the kWh meter installed by STELCO with their own meter, they must test the meter before applying to this service.
Meter changing can be applied for under express services.
This service can be applied for if the customer notices an issue with the meter in use.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:
In order to approve meters of a certain specification, a minimum of five meters should be submitted.
Payments should be settled upon receiving the invoice from STELCO.
All the meters will be tested and those of which produce a negative result shall be returned to the applicant. A test report will be prepared for the meters which produce a positive result and this shall be sent to the Maldives Energy Authority for approval.
If the meter type is approved, it will be returned to the customer with an approval sticker.
This service can be applied for if the customer needs to move the meter board to another location.
OR New Connection (temporary) to a permanent connection
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection.
Applications submitted without a meter number or an account number will not be accepted.
For a New Connection (temporary) to a permanent connection, testing should be completed.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
A survey will be conducted and if any issues are found, the applicant will be given a time frame to bring about changes before the next survey. If the process is not complete within a month’s time then the form will be cancelled.
An estimate with a payment deadline will be provided after the survey, if the applicant is unable to settle the payment within the time frame, the deadline can be further extended upon request. Failure to meet the extended deadline will result in the form being cancelled.

NOTE:
The relocation area must be 4 to 5ft above floor level.
This service will be provided after installation of panel board.

For customers wishing to add a new kWh meter to an existing panel board or any changes to existing panel.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

- Copy of modified panel drawings and load calculations approved by the Maldives Energy Authority
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection.
New Meter must be tested
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
A survey will be conducted and if any issues are found, the applicant will be given a time frame to bring about changes before the next survey. If the process is not complete within a month’s time then the form will be cancelled.
The service will be provided after the payment has been settled. If any further problems are discovered by the service team, the customer should resolve the problems and inform STELCO so that the work can be resumed.
Panel modification testing cannot be carried out under express.
Relocation of a sub distribution box found on the property
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
A survey will be conducted and if any issues are found, the applicant will be given a time frame to bring about changes before the next survey. If the process is not complete within a month’s time then the form will be cancelled.
An estimate with a payment deadline will be provided after the survey, if the applicant is unable to settle the payment within the time frame, the deadline can be further extended upon request. Failure to meet the extended deadline will result in the form being cancelled.
The service will be provided after the payment has been settled. If any further problems are discovered by the service team, the customer should resolve the problems and inform STELCO so that the work can be resumed.
SDB relocation cannot be carried out under Express Service.
For customers wishing to disconnect an installed connection
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
A bill will be made based on the current reading and the meter will be temporarily sealed within a working day.
Once the bill has been settled, disconnection will be carried out.
This service cannot be applied for under Express service.
NOTE:
Temporary disconnection will be for a 12months period, if reconnection is not done within the period the service will be permanently disconnected. And if need to reconnect before 12 months, the kWh meter must be tested if exceeds 6months of disconnection.
This service is re-connection of an existing meter disconnected temporarily for any reason.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
Once the application is received, the applicants will be informed prior to the attendance of a staff. If no issues are identified, electricity will be reconnected.
If any issues are identified during this visit, a survey will be conducted and the applicant will be given a time frame to bring about changes before the next survey. If the process is not complete within a month’s time then the form will be cancelled.
Re-connection can be applied for under express services.
NOTE:
Temporary disconnection will be for a 12months period, if reconnection is not done within the period the service will be permanently disconnected. And if need to reconnect before 12 months, the kWh meter must be tested if exceeds 6months of disconnection.
The service provide detail of cost and size of the cable that is needed to burry in order to supply current from a substation.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
- Copy of land registration
- Copy of panel drawings and load calculations approved by the Maldives Energy Authority
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection.
Service charge should be settled at the time of submitting the application.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
Cable will be laid from the sub-station closest to the property. A survey will be conducted to analyze how the cable should be buried. If a road block is required for cable burying, STELCO will acquire permission from the Housing Ministry/ City Council which takes 5 days on average.
Once the survey is complete, an estimate will be sent to the applicant regarding the estimated size and cost of the cable.
A Medium voltage connection is required if the requested load exceeds 300 Amps
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form filled and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant’s National Identity Card or Passport and its copy
- Copy of land registration
- Technical specifications of all HV equipment
- Copy of HV system, panel drawings and load calculations approved by the Maldives Energy Authority
PRE-REQUISITE:
Applications will not be accepted if the applicant has pending bills for an existing connection.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
A survey will be conducted and a cost estimate will be issued for transformer and cable installation.
Installation will begin once the applicant agrees on the payment terms.
NOTE:
All technical specs shall be approved by STELCO.
All HV connections shall have kWh metering facilities on the High voltage side of the Transformer.
