STELCO Commissions New Water Supply System in K. Thulusdhoo

A new island-wide water supply system developed by State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has been officially inaugurated in K. Thulusdhoo, strengthening essential utility services for the community. The project was entrusted to STELCO by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.

The system was inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, accompanied by STELCO Managing Director Mr. Ahmed Shamah Rasheed and senior government and company officials.

As part of the project, STELCO designed and installed two reverse osmosis (RO) plants with a production capacity of 200 tons each, along with two RO storage tanks totaling 2,800 tons and a 1,200-ton rain water tank. More than 17,000 meters of water network lines were laid to ensure comprehensive distribution across the island.

The new system now provides improved water services to 350 households in Thulusdhoo. The project commenced on 29 December 2021, was commissioned on 19 October 2025, and officially began service on 28 October 2025, with a total project value of MVR 50,888,210.00.

This development enhances long-term water security for residents, supports local economic growth, and contributes to the government’s broader objective of modernizing critical infrastructure across Kaafu Atoll.
