116 Women Graduate from STELCO’s Beginners Electrician Course for Women
STELCO has successfully concluded its Beginners Electrician Course for Women, with 116 participants graduating from the programme. The initiative—designed and delivered by STELCO’s technical experts—aims to expand opportunities for women seeking skills development in the electrical field, a sector traditionally dominated by men.

The course provided structured, hands-on training in core electrical concepts, practical safety procedures, appliance maintenance, domestic wiring, and technical troubleshooting. Participants gained foundational competencies enabling them to pursue technical careers, further studies, or advanced certification in the field. The programme is part of STELCO’s broader efforts to increase women’s participation in technical roles within the energy sector and across the Maldivian workforce.

The graduation ceremony was held with Her Excellency Madam Sajidha Mohamed, First Lady of the Republic of Maldives, as the Chief Guest. During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to graduates by the First Lady, STELCO’s Managing Director Ahmed Shamah Rasheed, and Deputy Managing Director Aishath Muzna.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed highlighted the national value of empowering women through technical education and commended STELCO’s commitment to providing high-quality training. She noted that initiatives such as this programme create meaningful pathways for women to enter skilled professions, helping to expand economic participation and improve gender inclusivity across the country.

STELCO’s Managing Director reaffirmed the company’s dedication to opening more structured, practical learning opportunities for women in technical fields. He emphasized that empowering women through skill-building is aligned with national goals and will remain a key priority in STELCO’s future programmes. He also expressed appreciation to the technical staff who delivered the training and encouraged graduates to continue advancing their professional knowledge.
