STELCO Reinforces Commitment to Inclusive Employment with Appointment of 30 New Staff

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) proudly announces the appointment of 30 new employees with disabilities as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to inclusive employment and meaningful workforce participation for all Maldivians. The appointment ceremony was held today, emphasizing STELCO’s alignment with national policies that promote equal opportunity and social inclusion.

The event was graced by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, who reiterated the importance of inclusive employment in strengthening families and contributing to long-term national development. In her remarks, the First Lady highlighted that integrating persons with disabilities into the workforce not only enhances their financial independence and social inclusion but also empowers them to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

STELCO Managing Director Ahmed Shamah Rasheed emphasised that the appointments reflect the vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for equitable opportunities for every citizen. Mr. Shamah noted that STELCO has long championed disability-inclusive recruitment, and the appointment of these 30 individuals marks a meaningful realization of that vision. With this latest intake, STELCO now supports 80 employees with disabilities, reinforcing its position as a leading employer in disability-inclusive practices.
