STELCO to Complete Full Transition to Smart Metering by End of September

Beta Testing Commences for New Smart Mobile Application

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) is pleased to announce that it will complete the full migration to a smart metering system by the end of September 2025. This transition marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to modernize its electricity services and enhance customer experience through advanced technologies.

As part of this initiative, STELCO has already completed the installation of smart meters in Hulhumalé Phase II. The company is now actively working to replace all remaining conventional electricity meters across its service areas, with the aim of finalizing the transition before the end of the third quarter.

STELCO currently provides electricity services to 33 islands across Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal, Kaafu, and Vaavu Atolls, in addition to the Greater Malé Region.

In tandem with the metering upgrade, STELCO has also commenced beta testing of its new smart mobile application. This application will offer customers real-time access to detailed electricity usage data, helping them make informed decisions about their consumption. The app will also feature enhanced capabilities, including the ability to manage multiple bill payments and access STELCO Care, a live customer support chat service.

Developed entirely in-house by STELCO’s dedicated team of local programmers, designers, and technical experts, the mobile app reflects the company’s continued commitment to fostering local innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions.

As the Partner in Progress, STELCO remains steadfast in its mission to build customer trust and continuously improve service delivery through the adoption of next-generation technology.
