Empowering Future Engineers: STELCO Announces New Scholarship
The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has introduced a new Merit-Based Engineering Scholarship Scheme to support Maldivian students pursuing higher studies in engineering fields. This initiative underscores STELCO’s commitment to fostering local talent and contributing to the nation’s technical advancement.
The scholarship is open to Maldivian nationals who wish to study engineering programs in the United Kingdom. Under this scholarship, applicants may choose to study at either The University of Manchester, University of Leeds or University of Southampton. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic excellence, leadership qualities, and a demonstrated passion for engineering. The scheme covers tuition fees, living expenses, and other related costs, enabling recipients to focus entirely on their studies.
This program supports STELCO’s wider commitment to advancing human resource development in the Maldives. In the past, the company has partnered with educational institutions like the Maldives Polytechnic Institute to offer training and certification opportunities for its staff.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the detailed guidelines and eligibility criteria published by STELCO. The deadline for applications is 1500hrs of 30th April 2025. This scholarship represents a significant opportunity for aspiring engineers to advance their education and contribute to the Maldives’ engineering sector.
