STELCO Honours Two Employees for Decades of Service
State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has honoured two long-serving employees at an appreciation ceremony held to recognise their dedicated service and contributions to the Company over several decades.
Service Engineer Mohamed Manik, who has served STELCO for 48 years, and Assistant Service Engineer Ahmed Mauroof, who concludes 37 years of service, were recognized as they retire from the Company. Together, the two employees have contributed a combined 85 years to STELCO.
The appreciation ceremony recognised not only the length of their service, but also the knowledge, experience and technical expertise they have contributed to STELCO throughout their careers.
Over the course of nearly five decades, Mr. Manik has witnessed and contributed to significant developments in STELCO’s operations and the country’s electricity sector. Mr. Mauroof likewise dedicated more than three decades to the Company, contributing to its technical operations and supporting the continued delivery of electricity services.
Their careers span a period of considerable transformation in the Maldives’ electricity sector, during which electricity demand expanded alongside population growth, urban development and economic activity. Throughout this period, STELCO’s operations have evolved alongside advancements in generation technology, power infrastructure and service delivery.
Speaking at the ceremony, STELCO Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar highlighted the unique value of the institutional knowledge accumulated by employees over long careers.
He noted that while equipment and infrastructure can be upgraded and replaced as the Company develops, the experience and knowledge gained through decades of service cannot be easily replicated.
Dr. Azwar further emphasised that long-serving employees play an important role in strengthening STELCO’s institutional knowledge, particularly through the practical experience they bring to addressing operational challenges and making decisions based on lessons learned over the years.
The contribution of retiring employees also extends beyond their individual roles. Throughout their careers, Mr. Manik and Mr. Mauroof have worked alongside and guided younger employees, passing on technical knowledge, practical experience and an understanding of STELCO’s operations to the next generation of the workforce.
STELCO extends its sincere appreciation to Mohamed Manik and Ahmed Mauroof for their dedicated service and wishes them both continued success and fulfilment in the next chapter of their lives.
